WA: Aboriginal community supports broader coronial inquiry

A West Australian MP says residents of a remote Aboriginal community want an expanded
open hearing .. as part of a coronial inquiry into the deaths of more than a dozen people.

Central Kimberley-Pilbara MP .. TOM STEPHENS .. says he's written to state coroner
ALASTAIR HOPE to alert him to the deaths.

Mr STEPHENS says he shares the local view that the deaths .. by suicide or other causes
.. are linked with alcohol or drug abuse in the Fitzroy valley.

He's asking the coroner to conduct an open hearing as part of the investigations scheduled
for Fitzroy Crossing in early October.
